Trump is Launching a Smartphone And Mobile Virtual Operator

Donald Trump is entering the mobile telecom market with the launch of Trump Mobile, a new wireless brand introduced today by Donald Trump Jr. The venture’s sole offering is “The 47 Plan,” a $47.45/month package that includes unlimited talk and text, and unlimited data that slows after 20GB of use. The plan also bundles telemedicine access, roadside assistance, and device protection. Trump Mobile operates as a white-label service under Liberty Mobile, an existing mobile virtual network operator (MVNO).

Speaking at Trump Tower, Donald Trump Jr. positioned the launch as a service for “real Americans” who are “underserved” by current mobile carriers. Despite those claims, the pricing significantly exceeds similar low-cost competitors—plans with comparable features from other MVNOs such as Mint Mobile and Boost Mobile often cost less than half as much. Nonetheless, Trump Mobile will support bring-your-own-device functionality and also plans to sell a custom smartphone, “The T1 Phone,” which features gold accents and is advertised as being manufactured in the U.S.

In addition to basic wireless service, The 47 Plan offers value-added features through third-party partners. Medical and behavioral health services will be delivered via Doctegrity, while Drive America provides roadside assistance and Omega Mobile Care covers device protection. While some details of device availability and service infrastructure remain unclear, Trump Mobile positions itself as a politically branded alternative in the crowded MVNO space, appealing to a niche audience aligned with Trump’s base.
