A hunter in Idaho searching for a shortcut on Friday unexpectedly discovered the remains of another hunter who had been missing for over five decades, a report said.
The man found the body of Raymond Jones, who was 39 when he vanished while bow hunting near Hayden Creek in Lemhi County in 1968, EastIdahoNews.com reported.
“It’s pretty wild,” Lemhi County Sheriff Steve Penner told the new outlet. “You have another bowhunter looking for a shortcut who stumbled upon a bowhunter from 53 years ago.”
Authorities recovered Jones’ body on Saturday and were able to identify him with the help of his still-intact wallet containing his identification.
Jones’ wife, who is still alive, was notified that the remains of her long-lost husband had been found.
