Nintendo’s Innovative Mouse-Controlled Basketball Game Launches August 14

Nintendo has officially announced that Drag x Drive, its upcoming 3v3 wheelchair basketball game, will launch on August 14 exclusively for the new Switch 2 console. The news was shared via the company’s Today! app, adding to the growing list of first-party releases aimed at showcasing the capabilities of the latest hardware.

Drag x Drive stands out for its unique control scheme—leveraging the mouse-like motion features of the new Joy-Con controllers. This will be the first major title to truly put the enhanced motion input to the test, offering a glimpse into whether this mechanic will redefine gameplay or remain a niche novelty.

Though likely to appeal to a more specialized audience—comparable to titles like Arms rather than mainstream hits like Wii Sports—the game is a signal of Nintendo’s commitment to monthly first-party releases. Following Mario Kart World at launch and Donkey Kong Bananza set for July, Drag x Drive continues the Switch 2’s momentum heading into late summer. Pricing details have yet to be revealed.
